Life insurance options
Existing Policy Reviews
Life insurance needs change over time. A policy that was appropriate when you purchased it may no longer reflect your current responsibilities, income, or financial goals.
When a review is worth considering
- Marriage, divorce, or a significant change in your relationship status
- The birth or adoption of a child
- A significant increase or decrease in income
- Purchase of a home or a major change in debt
- Starting, buying, or selling a business
- A policy that is more than five years old
- Uncertainty about what your current coverage includes
- Beneficiary designations that may be outdated
What a review involves
A policy review is a conversation about your current coverage and whether it still fits your situation. We will look at the coverage amount, the type of policy, the beneficiary designations, and how the policy fits within your broader financial picture. If changes appear appropriate, I will explain the options and what they involve before you make any decision.
Replacing an existing policy
Replacing a policy is not always the right answer. Any replacement should be evaluated carefully, as it may involve new underwriting, a new contestability period, and potentially higher premiums if your health has changed. I will explain the tradeoffs clearly before recommending any change.
Questions to consider
- Has my income or financial situation changed significantly since I purchased my policy?
- Are my beneficiary designations still accurate?
- Do I know what my current policy covers and what it does not?
- Has my employer-provided coverage changed?
- Do I have coverage gaps I am not aware of?
